Privacy Policy
Suburban Taxis online booking service · Effective August 2026
1. Overview
This policy explains how Suburban Taxis handles personal information collected through our website and booking portal. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
2. What we collect
- Identity and contact details — your name, mobile number and email address.
- Booking details — pickup and destination addresses, pickup times, vehicle preferences, driver notes and booking history.
- Payment information — the payment method you choose, fare amounts, and payment references or tokens returned by our payment providers. Full card numbers are collected directly by the payment provider and never stored on our systems.
- Technical data — device and browser information, and approximate location if you allow location access to help set your pickup point.
3. How we use it
- To arrange and dispatch your taxi bookings and let you track them.
- To verify your mobile number and secure your account.
- To process payments, pre-authorisations, refunds and outstanding amounts.
- To send booking updates by SMS or push notification.
- To respond to enquiries, complaints and lost property requests.
- To keep records we are required to keep, and to prevent fraud and misuse.
4. Who we share it with
- Drivers and operators — the details needed to complete your trip (name, pickup, destination, contact number).
- Our dispatch system provider — to allocate your booking to a vehicle.
- Payment providers (such as Stripe, BPOINT/Commonwealth Bank and CabPay) — to process payments securely.
- Service providers — such as SMS delivery and mapping services (Google Maps) used to run the portal.
- Regulators and law enforcement — where the law requires or permits it.
We do not sell personal information.
5. Storage and security
Booking data is stored on secured servers with access limited to staff who need it. Payment card details are handled by PCI-DSS compliant payment providers. We keep booking records only as long as needed for the purposes above and for legal record-keeping.
6. Cookies and local storage
The portal uses cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your recent addresses and preferences, and operate the booking flow. Blocking them may stop parts of the portal from working.
7. Access and correction
You can view and update your details on the My Account page, or contact us to request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you.
8. Complaints
If you have a privacy concern, contact us first on 13 1008 and we will respond as soon as we can.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page.
